Ol Chiki, the script of the Santal community, is one of the youngest writing systems in the world. It was developed by Raghunath Murmu in 1925 as a means of education, empowerment, and cultural preservation.

Project Lighthouse is a community-led initiative aimed at promoting awareness and usage of indigenous scripts. Under this project, one house in each Santal-dominated village is painted with the Ol Chiki script, creating visible symbols of language and identity within the community. The initiative has been implemented across several villages in and around Similipal National Park, creating Ol Chiki script awareness, with ongoing efforts to expand further.

The project also extends to other tribal scripts such as Warang Citi and Mundari, supporting their preservation and continued relevance among respective communities.

As Ol Chiki completes 100 years, the initiative seeks to integrate these scripts into everyday life, strengthening cultural identity and encouraging their continued use across generations.
